Transformers, Age of Extinction

Transformers, Age of Extinction

Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) on IMDb

Finally, Autobots have the good stuff.

The 4th part of the Transformers series is a typical Transformers movie with good animation, good music but a very weak story line. It starts with American Military Team Black Ops killing one of the Autobots  and introduction of the new villain Lockdown, a very powerful transformer send by the Creators to retrieve our hero Optimus Prime back to his origin. Lockdown is helped by an ex-CIA agent (the human villain of the movie) in his mission.

Our human hero Kate Yeager, is a protective father of his teenage girl Tessa. He tries to pay the bills, Tessa's college fees with help of his friend and partner in Yeager Robotics, Lucas Flannery. In search of their work, they get a damaged truck (You have guessed it correctly). this truck is none other than our hero Optimus Prime. Then enters the CIAs who are finding Optimus for Lockdown. After a long chase, these people with Optimus and Tessa's boyfriend Shane, are successful to dodge these CIA.

And now starts the protective father drama between the human leads. When other alive autobots get together, we get the new look of our favorite autobot Bumbble Bee. And now we are introduced to another inventor and producer of transformers Joshua. He is manufacturing a new line of transformers by using the metal "transformium", which is the main element of the transformation of these bots. In his manufacturing process, he uses Megatron's brain to decode transformers. (So, this is the birth of Megatron again.)

The most awaiting dinobots arrive much later in the movie, which is somewhat disappointing. Optimus with help of these dinobots fight the army created by Joshua and controlled by Galvatron (Megatron), the main transformer prototype of the army. After this, Lockdown faces Optimus. At the end Optimus, lives Earth to find the Creators. Galvatron succeeds in escaping the fight (another open thread for the sequel).

The movie is not successful in bringing them on the edge of seats. The animation and music is much better than previous parts but story is very weak. The human characters are not portrayed as good as Sam Wickwiky, but new transformers are good. I will give this movie a 6.5 out of 10 for Optimus, Dinobots, Bumbble Bee and animation.

Ek Villain, 2014

Ek Villain, 2014

Wikipedia      The Villain (2014) on IMDb

"E Villain", this is the first time when our heroine Ayesha (Shraddha) calls our villain Guru (Siddharth), and their love story starts. The motivational dialogues of our heroine and her so called medical condition, (which suddenly gets cured in the next half, even initially doctor says that disease incurable) changes the heart of our villain and brings him "out of darkness" (this dialogue is repeated at least 5 times in the movie).
Then his light takes him away from his old goon's life to Mumbai. Here enters the other anti hero villain of the movie Rakesh (Rietesh), who is a simple middle class man who works for some telephone company. He is a frustrated guy, who loves his wife a lot (this love is the main villain of the story). The wife (Amna) is always complaining and cursing him for him simplicity and foolishness. Rakesh who seems to be calm, turns violent when any woman mocks him. This violence is shown in a very beautiful manner. The director must be given full credit for this show.
The love story goes ahead in a pacy manner. And one day Ayesha meets Rakesh and mocks him! here comes the twist in the story which is apparently the first scene of the movie. After this twist, the tamed villain again turns dark and start killing everyone in his path of finding the killer.
Finally our villains meet. This moment is directed very well here Siddharth rocks. Guru punishes Rakesh and saves him too. This happens twice in the movie. And in their final meeting, the climax, Rakesh wins the heart of people with his excellent acting. The film ends with Guru again finding the light in form of Rakesh's son.
The songs are well placed and don't kill the pace of the story. The most weak point of the film is the dialogues given to Shraddha. At a point she literally irritates the audience with her dialogues. The locations are captured very well by the camera. The most strong point of the movie is the acting of Rietesh and Siddharth. They are amazing and played their parts very well.
I will give this movie a 7.5 out of 10, for our villains and songs.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) on IMDb

"The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself", this is how the hero of our movie "Toothless" is described in the 1st part of the movie. The deadliest dragon ever lived in the world of Vikings. This deadliest dragon, who was shown as the most cute of them, has just became more cute, more powerful, and more deadly in the second installment of this series.

Placed 5 years after the first part, the Island of Berk is now shown full of dragons of various colors. This Island's favourite sport is now the Dragon races (as opposing to killing and training to kill the dragon in first part) and Astrid, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Ruff, and Tuff are busy in challenging themselves. The other hero of the movie Hiccup is busy in discovering new places with his best bud Toothless.

While discovering for new places Hiccup meets his mother Valka on one of the Island. And then starts the family drama. It also seems that the Hiccup's 'gift' to love dragons comes to him from his mother, who studies dragons while saving them. Then enters the villain of the movie. Its not a dragon but a human Drago. He is pure evil, who wishes to control the dragons and other people with help of his 'bad' alpha dragon.

To stop Drago, Hiccup tries to talk him through towards peace. But this talk goes in vain. During this talk the fight between 'good' alpha and 'bad' alpha dragon mesmerise us. The result of fight can be predicted as the movie doesn't end there. And during this fight we lose few characters too.

What comes next is the most astonishing transformation of Toothless, which takes us by surprise. The dragon become most powerful and also same time the most cute(st) of them all. This end is one of the most powerful, surprising movie end I have seen if past few years.

This dragon-human friend saga gives us more than we expected. The story keeps us interested in the movie from start till the last frame of the movie. The animation is very beautiful. The colorful places, dragons are candy to the eyes. The dragons, their expression are more alive than ever. Every small detail of the dragons, people in the movie is designed very carefully which takes the movie to a very different level. The music is good, and voices suit to the characters. overall it is a treat to the eyes, full paisa vasool movie, for all the ages.

I would give this one a healthy 9 out of 10. And eagerly wait for the third installment of this dragon series.
